Enza, an Egyptian payments technology company founded by former Network International executives, has raised $6 million to expand its business supplying banks and fintechs across Africa.
4DX Ventures led the seed extension, with British International Investment, the UK’s development finance institution, joining as a new backer. Quona Capital and Algebra Ventures also participated, following their investment in Enza’s $6.75 million seed round in March 2025.
Enza supplies the systems financial institutions use to issue cards, run digital wallets and accept payments for merchants. Its platform connects banks and fintechs to international card networks, domestic payment schemes and mobile money services, allowing them to introduce products without building and maintaining each connection themselves.
The company’s founders previously helped build businesses serving many of the same markets. Chief executive Hany Fekry led processing at Network International, while co-founder and chief operating officer Hamish Houston ran its Southern Africa and Portuguese-speaking African operations. Both had worked within Emerging Markets Payments, which Network acquired for $350 million in 2016.
Enza says it now serves clients across 12 African countries, having formally launched in Ghana in September after receiving a Payment Service Provider Enhanced licence from the central bank. The new funding will support additional licence applications, entry into more African markets and product development.
